ChatRoulette is back with experiment #2 and the naked body parts are back with a vengeance, be warned the new version is mostly not suitable for work....
Following on from the ChatRoulette experiment #1 that ended last week, it seems the internet was buzzing with interest around what is going to be coming back in new site with experiment #2? Alex alerted me yesterday that ChatRoulette was back and the new interface showed 2 single video screens. The new interface built-in Flash and allows the top viewing screen to be resized, and it also appears to allow a chat area but I find that it wasn’t yet working.
So What about the Chat Censorship?
Most people were turned off by the original site having no real censorship or punishment for the high level of male genitalia being shown and other disturbing or obscene images. The Russian developer eventually started to cave to pressure and requested that chat participants have to be at least 16 years old and strongly started to enforce some rules to allow offended users to complain about the particular user. If 3 Chat Roulette users complained about the same person within 5 minutes they received a time out card that bans them from the service for around 10-40 minutes. Actions like this reduced the initial shock value of the platform but did allow its demographic to expand among female users.
Much of the discussion when the old site went down was around would the new version feature a clean-cut and family friendly PG-13 platform or would something completely different come back?
So whats new with ChatRoulette?
It seems that the service has reverted to be a 80% mix of males in underwear, male genitalia and strange and disturbing noises, so the question is what happened to the old platform that was actually starting to build itself into a real video chat platform? The middle button that has no text is actually the new way to cycle through ChatRoulette users but the page is lacking any other information, text or even any advertising, so its likely the platform is not yet fully redeveloped but its a concern that the nudity and shock value came back so quickly.
Too much genitalia again!
It’s a real shame that the relaunch of ChatRoulette is while very fast loading and super simple to use, more of a slide show of obscene images and too many guys in their underwear to really make you think about going back to use it again! Feel free to use the new ChatRoulette but at your own risk….

Chatroullete problem is chatroulette creator. Chatroulette died because owner dont have any business expirience and business taste.
Without strong investor this project will die in next couple of months.
Checkout how much other projects already do random video conversations better than chatroulette.
Personally, i like some implementation like nxting.com have, with youtube watching mode, the one most creative idea, I believe they will rule very soon, also i like some implementations for iphone like iRoulette.ru
thanks for the comment and the well brutal but possible true comment, its hard to know what else went on and if the project ran out of budget, but i really think it should not have been taken down before atleast something was partially prepared. Its clear that the project will be struggling but im wondering why they have not added in some advertising, its likely that he might have been banned from having Adsense run on the site. The Google Adsense polices hint at being a family friendly site…
The AdSense network is considered family-safe, which means that publishers aren’t permitted to place Google ads on sites which contain adult content. In addition to photos and videos which contain nudity or sexual activities, here are some other examples of unacceptable content:
Lewd or provocative images
Crude or indecent language, including adult stories
Sexual tips or advice
Sexual fetish sites (e.g. foot fetish content)
Adult toys or products
Ads or links to external sites containing adult content
Adsense help article
Most people can see that the new site clearly manages to break that policy guide in just a few clicks….
