Fraudulent Facebook Account Email

Facebook has advised a number of users have received emails and should not respond or click on the email, you can read more about their Facebook security notices here.

It seems that leading upto Christmas the emails are starting to roll out from the spam bots trying to capture people’s Facebook login details.  The good point is the until they get access to some accounts they have to use generic email addresses and greetings such as “Dear Facebook User”.  Once they compromise some more user accounts expect to see much more recognisable emails addresses used and possibly start to see your name appear in the greeting in 2011. Facebook account update

It seems that the phishing emails are driving visitors to a subdomain LOGIN.Facebook.COM.Filedms.com, which shows the Filedms.com domain is registered in Russia but the domain is hosted in the Ukraine.  The root domain returns a 403 error forbidding the user to view anything that they don’t want you to. If you have clicked the email you need to visit the Facebook help center and report your account might have been compromised.
