Centaur Media has announced they have acquired digital group Econsultancy in a deal that involves £12 million in cash now, with up to a further payment of £38 million by 2016. On the news of the acquisition Centaur Media share price jumped 4.28% which shows support of the move to increase it’s digital businesses.
Centaur Media is structured in 3 divisions
- Business publishing – Marketing Week, The Lawyer, Creative Review, The Engineer, New Media Age, and more…
- Business Information – Perfect Information, VB Research
- Exhibitions – Trade Shows & Housing market-focused publishing
Econsultancy is built up of business blogs, reports, professional development training programs, jobs listings, members area and events. Econsultancy is a great purchase for a the mostly print focused Centaur Media as they have well over 100,000 members.
It will be interesting how Econsultancy’s international expansion plans are prioritised or scaled back post acquisition over the next few months. The real strength will be if Centaur can effectively scale it’s other business publishing products inline with the Econsultancy platform.
